Justin Rothberg, Anthony McIntosh Pole Winners in GT America Qualifying

GT America powered by AWS competitors hit the track bright and early on Saturday morning for their qualifying session. The weather remained pleasant, with hotter temperatures expected to roll into Sebring later in the day. Drivers tackled the iconic bumps of Sebring International Raceway, all pushing to set the fastest lap time ahead of Race 1. In the end, only one driver could claim the top spot…

Pacesetters Justin Rothberg (SRO3 class) and Anthony McIntosh (GT4 class) showed strong form, powering to pole position for the first of two 40-minute races scheduled for later Saturday afternoon.

SRO3 Class

Blake McDonald in his No. 11 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R and Memo Gidley in the No. 56 SKI Autosports Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVOII exchanged the top spot on their opening laps before McDonald asserted himself firmly atop the charts at a provisional pole time of 2:01.664 on his third flying lap. McDonald solidified his position with a final flyer of 2:01.181 to secure the pole.

Justin Rothberg, driving the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO, steadily improved as the session progressed, moving up to second place with a best time of 2:02.337. Memo Gidley finished third with a time of 2:02.586, followed by Mirco Schultis in the No. 70 MISHUMOTORS Callaway Corvette Z06R GT3. Ross Chouest, behind the wheel of the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, and Kyle Washington in his trusty No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R completed the top six.

McDonald will not participate in Race 1, which promoted Rothberg to first on the grid, with Gidley lining up second.

GT4 Class

Anthony McIntosh continued his strong weekend in GT America powered by AWS, remaining clear of the GT4 field in his No. 69 JTR Motorsports Engineering Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO2.
